Metinvest Group, together with the Enactus youth organization, presented the final projects of the second “Territory of Entrepreneurship” competition of youth projects. This year’s competition involved students from 16 Ukrainian universities.
The competition was launched in October 2013. In eight months, Enactus developed and implemented projects that gave disabled people, pensioners, housewives, students and the unemployed an opportunity to develop and master new businesses. Students’ business ideas included promoting young painters and theatrical studios, and developing children with special needs. Every team was supervised by a mentor from Metinvest.
A jury comprised of Metinvest’s top management evaluated seven projects in the final stage. Projects were implemented in Vinnitsa, Donetsk, Kyiv, Odesa and Kharkiv. Projects included making toys from environmentally friendly materials (Vinnitsa National Technical University), creating a theatrical space by young theatrical studios for rehearsals and performances (Kyiv National University of Technology and Design), and home growing mushrooms by pensioners (Odesa National Economic University).
First place was taken by the “+2. Children of Rain” project of the Kharkiv National University of Economics. This project developed a life skills program for children with autism through games and social adaptation exercises. It is now being tested at the city’s rehabilitation center. In the future, the program will be available for purchase by everyone аnd special state institutions will receive the program for free.
The “Territory of Entrepreneurship” competition was founded by Metinvest Group and Enactus in October 2012. The goal of the competition is to implement projects that raise the living standards of people by developing the business environment in different regions of Ukraine.
