Ingulets GOK Announces Winners of Social Projects Contest

Ingulets Iron Ore Enrichment Works of Metinvest Group announced winners of the social projects contest as part of the 2016 program titled "We Improve the City". 13 best proposals of proactive community members, public organizations and public utilities from Ingulets and Shyroke districts were awarded funding to implement projects. The grant fund of the program totaled more than UAH 1.5 million.

This year, involvement of community members was record high – the expert board received 84 applications, of which 13 projects with the greatest social benefit were selected. Winners were awarded grants ranging from UAH 60,000 to 150,000 to implement their initiatives.  According to the program requirements, all projects will be completed by the end of 2016.

Initiatives focused on creative development of youth and school-age children, promotion of sports and healthy lifestyle were given priority. Projects in this area include the erection of a climbing wall for fans of mountain hiking, arrangement of a training ground to teach road safety for children, and equipping of a place for active recreation and competitions at Stroitel stadium. Furthermore, an English language club for preschoolers, an outdoor museum of mining equipment, a radio studio and a ship and car model construction club will be established.  

Local residents' proposals focused on energy efficiency, land improvement and environmental protection, support to socially disadvantaged population groups and volunteering were not left unnoticed. In Ingulets, a memorial sign in the form of Ukraine's outline map, two children playgrounds, a sensory room for children,and a salt room  were established, and a swimming pool  was provided with a special energy-saving coating thanks to these projects.

– The best social project contest within the framework of the program "We Improve the City" was first held in Kriviy Rih namely by Ingulets GOK in 2011.  In the meantime, the program became very popular among residents of Ingulets and Shyroke districts. The number of applications grows every year. This is an indication of high level of community engagement. In the last six years, Ingulets GOK invested almost UAH five millions to implement projects, most of which were focused on developing our younger generation.
